From their side, Zamalek announced on Thursday that Kahraba had settled the outstanding amount, resolving the long-standing issue with the White Knights.

Club board member Ahmed Soliman confirmed the news, stating, "Kahraba paid the fine with its interest." The payment brings closure to the dispute that has lingered since Kahraba unilaterally terminated his contract with Zamalek to join Portuguese side Aves in the summer of 2019, before eventually joining Ahly the following winter.

Zamalek had filed a complaint against the player, leading FIFA's Dispute Resolution Chamber to impose a $2 million fine on Kahraba in August 2020.

The fine was termed as compensation for breach of contract without just cause, with an additional 5% interest per annum from June 20, 2019, until the date of effective payment.

However, Kahraba initially failed to pay the fine, resulting in a six-month ban imposed by FIFA in June 2022.

The player appealed these decisions to The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), arguing that his contract with Zamalek was incorrectly registered.

Unfortunately for Kahraba, CAS ruled against him in March 2023.

Despite the lingering dispute, Kahraba displayed remarkable performances with Ahly last season, contributing to their victories in domestic and CAF Champions Leagues.

Nevertheless, he had been reluctant to settle the fine, making multiple appeals to delay the payment until finally resolving the matter on Thursday.
