Cairo gears up for Half Marathon 2024 with some street closures

Cairo is gearing up for its annual mega half Marathon on Friday as some streets will be closed to cars during the big popular sports event in Heliopolis.

As many as 5,000 are expected to participate in the event, which kicks off on Friday at Maryland Park’s gates in Helipolis at 5 am Cairo Local Time.

The half Marathon will include the 21KM Run, 10KM Run, 5KM Fun Run, and Family Run.

The 21 KM Run will kick off at 6:15 am.

Egypt’s Cairo Runners, the organizer of the Cairo half Marathon, announced that the following streets in Heliopolis will be closed to cars in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior starting at 6 am Cairo Local Time.

Fath Street from 12:00 am to 10:00 am.

Hegaz Street Right Side from 6:00 am to 9:00 am.

Farid Semeka - Salah Salem way from 6:00 am to 8:00 am

Ammar Ibn Yasser Street both ways from 6:00 am to 8:00 am

Farid Semeka - Gesr Suez way from 6:30 am to 9:30 am

Abdel-Hamid Badawy Street both ways from 6:30 am to 9:30 am

Hegaz Street left Side from 6:30 am to 9:30 am

Hegaz Bridge both ways from 6:00 am to 9:00 am

Ibrahim Al-Arabi Ringroad both ways from 6:00 am to 9:00 am

The Cairo Half Marathon is organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Cairo Governorate.
