Ehab El-Komy, a board member of the Egyptian Football Association (EFA), has revealed that the national team staff have encountered difficulties reaching Liverpool star Mohamed Salah ahead of the March camp.

Hossam Hassan, recently appointed as Egypt's new coach, included Salah in his call-up for the March camp alongside six other foreign-based players.

The Pharaohs are scheduled to participate in a friendly tournament in the UAE featuring Tunisia, Croatia, and New Zealand on 22-26 March.

However, El-Komy told local television channel ETC TV that "the Egyptian national team, led by Hossam and Ibrahim Hassan, could not communicate with Mohamed Salah so far.”

"There hasn't been any meeting between Hossam Hassan and Mohamed Salah yet," El-Komy said, emphasizing that there is no conflict between the two parties.

“The minister of sports will hold a session between the two parties to create a conducive atmosphere within the team," he added.

“The relationship between the Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhy and Mohamed Salah is excellent. There is an agreement between him and the EFA to work on resolving any issues related to the national team,” El-Komy added.

Salah, 31, has only played one Premier League game since the beginning of the year due to a hamstring injury sustained at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in January.

Although he returned to Liverpool in their 18th February win against Brentford, muscle fatigue prevented him from further participation.

Egypt will begin the tournament against New Zealand on 22 March, with the winner facing the victor of the Tunisia-Croatia match.

The friendly tournament will be part of Egypt and Tunisia's preparations for World Cup qualifiers in June.
