Different areas across Egypt, especially coastal cities and Upper Egypt, are expected to witness rainfall of varied intensity and active wind along with a drop in temperature degrees, according to the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA).

The EMA expects a 30-60 percent chance of rainfall in northern coasts, the Western Desert, Greater Cairo, Lower Egypt, the Suez Canal cities, Sinai, and northern and central Upper Egypt areas till Wednesday.

The "Major Sun Gale” comprises common short-term storms that buffet the port city in the fall and winter with high waves, heavy rains, and strong winds, often bringing navigation at ports to a standstill.

It is expected to reach its peak on Monday and persist till Wednesday.

Municipal authorities in Alexandria typically deploy water-vacuuming trucks to drain rainwater and facilitate smoother traffic conditions.

Greater Cairo, Lower Egypt, and the North Coast expect highs of 19-26 degrees Celsius and lows of 11-13 degrees Celsius from Sunday to Friday, the EMA forecasts.

South Sinai expects highs of 24-29 degrees and lows of 14-16 degrees, according to the EMA.

Northern Upper Egypt governorates – Fayoum, Beni Suef, and Minya – expect higher temperatures, with highs of 22-30 degrees and laws of 10-12 degrees.

However, southern Upper Egypt governorates – Sohag, Qena, Luxor, Aswan, and the Red Sea – expect warmer weather, with highs of 24-33 degrees.

Nights will be cold though, with temperatures ranging from 14 to 15 degrees.

On Friday morning, drivers should be careful as fog is anticipated on roads in Greater Cairo, Lower Egypt, the North Coast, Suez Canal cities, Sinai, and Upper Egypt from 4 am to 8 am.
