Ahly midfielder Emam Ashour
Ashour is suffering from a dislocated shoulder after being injured during the national team's 1-0 victory over New Zealand in a friendly tournament at Egypt Stadium, the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) announced earlier on Saturday.
Ashour, 26, left the pitch after a severe collision with one of the opposing players and was moved to hospital.
“After further scans and consulting experienced doctors in shoulder injuries, Ashour is set to undergo a shoulder surgery on Sunday morning,” Ahly doctor Ahmed Gaballah was quoted as saying on the club’s official website.
The Cairo giants are yet to announce how long Ashour will remain on the sidelines amid reports that the player will be out of action for two months at least.
Ashour, who made his international debut in 2021, has delivered outstanding performances since joining Ahly last summer from FC Midtjylland. He scored three goals in 25 appearances in all competitions.
