Preview: Zamalek face Modern Future in All-Egyptian Confederation Cup quarter-final

Egyptian giants Zamalek and Modern Future will face each other in the first leg of the quarterfinals of the African Confederation Cup at Cairo's El-Salam stadium on Sunday.

Zamalek, who are gunning to win their second Confederation Cup title, will have to do without their winter signings: Nasser Maher, Abdallah El-Said, and Seif Farouk Gaafar.

The three are ineligible to participate in the African Confederation Cup for Zamalek because they played for their former teams in ongoing CAF tournaments.

However, Zamalek star winger Ahmed 'Zizo' El-Sayed will be available after recovering from a calf injury.

Zamalek hold an impressive winning record against Modern Future.

The White Knights won all five previous encounters with Modern Future FC since their promotion to the domestic league in the 2021-2022 season.

Meanwhile, Modern Future, who have not won any continental titles, will have to do without injured veteran striker Marwan Mohsen and winger Ahmed Refaat who is recovering from a life-threatening heart attack sustained during a recent league game.

Modern FC secured their place in the quarterfinals by finishing second in Group A during the group stage.

Meanwhile, Zamalek claimed the top spot in their Group
