El-Sisi will be sworn in as president for a six-year term at the headquarters of the Egyptian parliament in the NAC.

In TV remarks, Abbas said the president’s inauguration ceremony will kick off the opening of the first phase of the NAC.

The capital is ready for the inauguration and the swearing-in ceremony, he stressed.

Parliamentary sources revealed that members of the House have already received invitations to attend the swearing-in session.

Senate members, several heads of political parties and public figures, will also attend the session, according to media reports.

El-Sisi will deliver a speech after he takes the constitutional oath, as per reports.

The president, whose second term in office is set to expire on 2 April 2024, was re-elected in December 2023 for a third term with just over 39.7 million votes, or 89.6 percent of eligible votes cast.

According to the National Elections Authority, 44.7 million people cast their ballots in the election, with a turnout rate of 66.8 percent.

The construction of the new capital, located 60 km east of downtown Cairo, started in 2015.

The NAC is being built on an area of 714 million m2 or twice the area of Cairo governorate.

Once completed, it is expected to accommodate 6.5 million residents.

The NAC's 1.5 million m2 Government District comprises 10 ministerial complexes that houses 34 ministries, the cabinet headquarters, the House of Representatives, and the Senate.

Ministries and government entities have relocated to the new capital along with thousands of public employees.

In November, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly stated that 48,108 employees have already relocated to the new capital.
