Shoukry also called for increasing the flow of aid and removing obstacles to their entry. In addition, he stressed that displaced Palestinians should be allowed to return to their homes in northern Gaza, according to a statement by the Egyptian foreign ministry.
The Egyptian FM and his American counterpart also reiterated their rejection of any Israeli military operation in the Palestinian border city of Rafah, warning against the dangerous consequences of such an operation on the security and stability of the region.
Furthermore, Shoukry reaffirmed to Blinken Egypt’s rejection of any attempts at forcibly displacing Palestinians out of their lands as this will liquidate the Palestinian cause and violate international law.
According to the statement, the two ministers also discussed efforts to reach a ceasefire and increase humanitarian aid to Gaza.
At least 33,634 Palestinians have been killed and 76,214 injured in Israeli attacks on Gaza since 7 October.
