Two days ahead of Saturday's clash with Malawi in the first leg of the final round of African Cup of Nations qualifiers, Ghana striker Asamaoh Gyan said he is ready for the tough mission awaiting him.

The Al-Ein striker will make his first appearance for the Black Stars for six months. He had earlier decided to take a break from international duty after being severely criticised following Ghana's frustrating fourth place finish in the last African Cup of Nations in February.

The 26-year-old striker returned for Ghana's 1-1 friendly draw against China last month but was an unused substitute as he had a mild injury.

"I appreciate the pressure. It’s a team effort, I work for the team, I make sure I do my job," Gyan told the Ghanaian Football Association website.

"Football is played by 22 people and I have played for the Black Stars since 2003 and I have done my best for the team.

"I do appreciate what people are saying. It doesn’t put pressure on me. Talking about football, we have ups and downs.

"If you can go through all these things then you are ready to play at anytime, in front of the crowds and everybody," he concluded.
