During the meeting, Kaag reviewed with FM Shoukry her efforts to implement Security Council Resolution 2720, which regulates facilitating, coordinating, and monitoring the process of delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza, according to a statement by the foreign ministry.
FM Shoukrry emphasized to Kaag the need to urgently deal with the dire humanitarian crisis in Gaza by endorsing an immediate and permanent ceasefire and delivering aid fully and safely throughout Gaza.
He added that swift access to aid requires removing obstacles posed by Israel and opening all land crossings with the strip.
Shoukry and Kaag also discussed ways to increase the current volume and quality of aid entering the strip and priorities.
They underscored the importance of providing necessary protection for international relief teams in Gaza.
On her part, Kaag affirmed her commitment to continue coordinating aid deliveries to Gaza with Cairo, lauding Egypt's pivotal role in reducing the humanitarian crisis in the strip.
She also praised the cooperation between the Egyptian Red Crescent and civil society organizations with UN relief agencies in delivering aid to Gaza.
