Egyptian Foreign Ministry
According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cairo urged both parties to exercise the utmost restraint and adhere to international law and the UN charter.
Furthermore, the ministry warned against the grave consequences of the conflict expansion and instability in the region.
Egypt affirmed "its commitment to intensifying communication with all concerned and influential parties to contain the ongoing tension and escalation."
Early Friday, Iranian air defences fired on drones near a major air base and a nuclear site near the central city of Isfahan.
The Israeli military did not respond to a request for comment.
Tensions have been high since Iran’s retaliatory assault on Israel on Saturday in retaliation for an Israeli strike targeting Iran's embassy in Syria.
