The 32-year-old right-back was not included in the Zamalek squad list after picking up the knock during the team's 2-1 victory over archrivals Ahly in the Cairo derby on Monday.

"Gaber suffered an adductor muscle injury during the derby but pushed himself to continue the game," Zamalek doctor Mohamed Osama said on Friday.

Dr Osama further added that Gaber will undergo a comprehensive treatment and rehabilitation program to facilitate his return to group training shortly.

The absence of Gaber comes as a setback to the hopes of the Cairo giants, who aim to secure their second Confederation Cup title after lifting the trophy in 2019.
