“A noticeable progress has been made in bringing the views of the Egyptian and Israeli delegations closer together on a truce in the Gaza Strip,” reported the channel, citing a high-level-informed source.
Earlier Friday, an Egyptian security delegation arrived in Tel Aviv to discuss an Egyptian proposal involving a comprehensive framework for the long-awaited ceasefire in Gaza.
According to Israeli media reports, the Egyptian proposal entails the release of 33 Israeli captives, including women, the elderly, and the ill, in return for a three-week ceasefire and the restart of the deadlocked talks.
Per the reports, Israel gave Egyptian mediators the green light to proceed with the detainees swap deal.
Egypt stressed that it is in talks with all parties with the aim of achieving a ceasefire, halting the Israeli war, and ending the suffering endured by the Palestinian people, a source told Al-Qahera News earlier today.
Egypt, alongside Qatar, helped mediate a week-long ceasefire in late November when Hamas freed over 100 captives in exchange for 240 detained Palestinian women and children.
However, subsequent talks have failed to progress on a ceasefire or detainees swap deal.
Israel has killed at least at least 34,305 Palestinians and injured 77,293, most of whom are children and women, during its six-month war on Gaza.
