FM Shoukry discuss efforts to end Gaza war with Secretary Blinken

Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry met on Monday with the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken to follow up on efforts to halt the war and address the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip as well as the future of the Palestinian cause.

The discussions came as part of a meeting of foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, and Jordan alongside the Secretary General of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization with the US top diplomat on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Riyadh.

FM Shoukry also met with his counterparts from Norway, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Bahrain, and France, on the sidelines of the forum.

During the meetings, Shoukry underscored Egypt's firm position towards the situation in the Gaza Strip, stressing that there is no alternative to a ceasefire and ensuring the entry of humanitarian aid into the besieged Strip.

He further emphasized Egypt’s categorical rejection of military operations in the Palestinian city of Rafah and the forced displacement of Palestinians, stressing the necessity of reaching a comprehensive resolution to the Palestinian cause.

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly participated in the World Economic Forum (WEF) on behalf of President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi, alongside FM Shoukry and Minister of Planning and Economic Development Hala El-Said.
