In a short statement on social media, El-Sisi marked Labour Day by lauding the dedication and hard work of Egyptian workers, describing them as the cornerstone of Egypt's development efforts.
"Today is a tribute to the dedication and loyalty of our workers who have committed themselves to building our beloved nation," said El-Sisi.
"You have exerted your utmost effort in advancing our modern state, and I extend my sincere gratitude to each and every one of you."
The president's message resonated with sentiments of unity and progress, as he wished for Egypt to continue flourishing and extended prayers for the health and well-being of all workers.
International Labour Day is celebrated on 1 May to raise awareness about the significant contributions made by the working class to society. This day is also commonly referred to as May Day. However, some countries, including the US and Canada, mark the day on the first Monday of September.
Although Egypt usually celebrates Labour Day on 1 May, this year the premier declared 5 May a public holiday to observe the day.
Last week, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly issued two decrees granting public and private sector employees an extended break on Sunday and Monday, 5-6 May, to mark Labour Day and Sham El-Nessim festivities.
In recent years, the cabinet has shifted paid holidays that fall on weekdays to weekends.
Sham El-Nessim, an ancient Egyptian spring festival, is celebrated the day following Coptic Easter.
