Egypt are set to face Burkina Faso and Guinea Bissau in the African 2026 World Cup qualifiers on 7 and 10 June, respectively, according to the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) on Thursday.

The Pharaohs will have a home match against Burkina Faso in the third round of the group stage games, followed by an away game against Guinea Bissau in the fourth round, just three days later.

The EFA noted that this is the first time FIFA and the Confederation of African Football (CAF) have taken charge of determining the dates for World Cup qualifiers.

In the past, they relied solely on the teams' domestic associations.

Egypt has been placed in Group A alongside Burkina Faso, Guinea Bissau, Ethiopia, Djibouti, and Sierra Leone.

Currently, the Pharaohs are leading Group A with six points from two games played.

They secured a 6-0 victory against Djibouti in the first round and triumphed over Sierra Leone 2-0 in the second round, which took place in November 2023.

This will be the first official assignment for newly appointed coach Hossam Hassan.

The 57-year-old iconic Egyptian striker took over Rui Vitoria in February, following the frustrating exit of the Pharaohs from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations Round of 16.
