Zamalek's doctor, Mohamed Osama, has provided an injury update on the team's players, confirming that veteran skipper Mahmoud "Shikabala" Abdel-Razek, winger Mostafa Shalabi, and defender Mostafa El Zennari are doubtful for the first leg of the Confederation Cup final.
"Primary medical tests have indicated that Shalabi and El Zennari are likely to miss the first leg of the African Confederation Cup," Osama informed Zamalek's TV channel.
The duo sustained their injuries during Zamalek's 1-0 victory over NBE Club on the 20th matchday of the Egyptian Premier League last Thursday.
"El Zennari and Shalabi are suffering muscle injuries," added Zamalek's doctor.
Meanwhile, Shikabala picked up a muscle injury while training in Ghana ahead of the game against Dreams FC in the second leg of the Confederation Cup semifinals last week.
"Shikabala could be absent from Zamalek's squad for four to six weeks, and we must handle his injury cautiously upon his return," stated Zamalek's doctor.
Zamalek is scheduled to face RS Berkane in the first leg of the secondary continental tournament final on 12 May, with the second leg slated for 19 May in Cairo.
