The club's 2-0 victory over Huddersfield on Saturday secured their promotion to England's top flight after 22 years of absence and ignited a jubilant pitch invasion at Portman Road.
Ipswich, last seen in the Premier League in 2002, finished as the runner-up behind Leicester with 96 points, capping off an impressive season.
Sam Morsy, the 32-year-old Egyptian international, played a vital role in Ipswich's campaign, featuring in 41 championship matches this season. He contributed two goals and six assists to the team's success.
Morsy joined Ipswich Town in August 2021 from Middlesbrough and was appointed as the club's captain a month later.
Born and raised in England, Morsy began his football journey at the youth academies of Wolverhampton Wanderers and Port Vale. He made his professional debut with Port Vale's senior team at the beginning of the 2009-10 season.
In 2013, he signed a two-year contract with League Two club Chesterfield, where he showcased his skills in 117 appearances, scoring nine goals and providing nine assists.
In 2016, Morsy made a significant move to Wigan Athletic, where he became an integral part of the squad. During his time at Wigan, he featured in 164 games across all competitions, netting nine goals and contributing eight assists.
In September 2020, Morsy joined Middlesbrough in the Championship, playing 36 games and providing five assists before his transfer to Ipswich Town.
Morsy's Premier League promotion marks a milestone for Egyptian players in the competition, as he becomes the 13th Egyptian to grace the league.
This prestigious list includes renowned names such as Mohamed Salah, Mohamed Elneny, Ahmed "Mido" Hossam, Mahmoud "Trezeguet" Hassan, Ahmed Elmohamady, Ramadan Sobhi, Ahmed Hegazi, Hossam Ghaly, Amr Zaki, Mohamed Shawky, Ahmed Fathi, and Mohamed "Gedo" Nagy.
Having represented the Egyptian national team nine times in November 2023, Morsy's outstanding performance and promotion to the Premier League could earn him a call-up under the guidance of Pharaohs' coach Hossam Hassan.
