The court has rescheduled the case to 1 June.
In late April, the body of a 10-month-old Sudanese girl, Janet Jumaa, was found in a public park near her home.
On 1 May, the prosecution referred the defendant to the criminal court on charges of kidnapping Janet while she was playing with her older sister in front of her home in Cairo’s Nasr City.
He then took her to a nearby park, where he assaulted and murdered her, the prosecution added.
The accused will face the death penalty if convicted on said charges.
Thursday witnessed the second session of the trial, which started on Tuesday.
