El-Sisi and Khasawneh emphasized that such military operations would sever the vital lifeline for the war-torn strip and destroy the safe passage that serves as the primary entry point for much-needed humanitarian aid and facilitates the evacuation of wounded Palestinians for medical treatment.

On Tuesday, the Israeli forces seized control of the Palestinian side of the Rafah border crossing, situated between Sinai and the strip, halting the delivery of aid and the evacuation of injured individuals.

The World Food Programme’s (WFP’s) director for Palestine, Matthew Hollingworth, said the UN agency’s main warehouse in Rafah is now inaccessible and that no aid has entered from border crossings in southern Gaza in two days.

The meeting also focused on the precarious situation in Gaza and the ongoing efforts to secure a comprehensive ceasefire and the exchange of captives and prisoners.

According to Egyptian Presidential Spokesperson Ahmed Fahmy, these efforts aim to ensure immediate and uninterrupted access to humanitarian assistance for the suffering people of Gaza.

Furthermore, El-Sisi and Khasawneh urged the international community to fulfil its responsibilities by pushing for an immediate and lasting ceasefire while simultaneously recognizing an independent and sovereign Palestinian State based on the borders of 4 June 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

This recognition, the statement added, "shall bring about justice and achieve regional security and stability, opening up prospects of development for all peoples of the region."

The Jordanian minister conveyed King Abdullah bin Hussein of Jordan's regards to President El-Sisi, who reaffirmed the special and historical ties between the Egyptian and Jordanian people and their leadership and praised the cooperation between the two countries to fulfil the aspirations of their people and the region.
