Liberal political figure and founder of the Democratic Front Party Osama El-Ghazaly Harb has withdrawn from the Supreme Press Council Saturday complaining of its formation.
In a statement to Al-Ahram Arabic website, Harb confirmed he submitted his resignation from the council to the head of the Shura Council, Ahmed Fahmi, and to the General Secretariat of the Supreme Press Council Farag El-Dory.
He explained that the formation of the council was not optimal and that as a result he would prefer not to remain a member.
The Shura Council (the upper, consultative house of Egypt's parliament) announced new appointments to Egypt's Supreme Press Council last Tuesday.
