Ahly are scheduled to face Tunisian giants Esperance in the first leg of the Champions League final in Tunis on Saturday, with the second leg taking place in Cairo one week later.

Goalkeeper Mohamed El Shennawy has been out of action since February due to a serious shoulder injury he sustained while on international duty with the Pharaohs in the Africa Cup of Nations.

Malian midfielder Aliou Dieng has also been sidelined for around three months due to a knee injury.

The return of these two players will provide a significant boost to the team's coach ahead of the continental final, given their great abilities.

Coach Marcel Koller announced a list of 23 players for the final on Wednesday.

The list did not include midfielders Amr El-Soulaya and Ahmed Nabil, as well as wingers Ahmed Abdel-Qader, Taher Mohamed, and Mohamed Dhaoui, for various reasons.

Defending champions Ahly are aiming for their 12th Champions League title, while the Tunisian side is seeking their fifth title and the first since 2019.
