Zamalek secured their second Confederation Cup title by defeating RS Berkane 1-0 in the second leg of the final at Cairo Stadium on Sunday.
Despite losing the first leg 1-0, Zamalek claimed the title on the away goal rule, with the aggregate score standing at 2-2.
Speaking to BeIN Sports after the game, Gomes stated, "We deserved the win. We worked hard to achieve our mission. I thank the players and fans for their efforts during the game."
Gomes acknowledged the team's strong start in Cairo as a pivotal factor in their success, providing the players with confidence throughout the match.
"We made a poor start in Morocco, but in Cairo, we made a good start which gave the players confidence during the game."
The Portuguese coach emphasized the team's mental preparation and their ability to overcome a challenging opponent.
