The Confederation of African Football (CAF) issued a statement on Monday strongly condemning the security breaches and spectator misbehavior that occurred during the Confederation Cup final between Zamalek and RS Berkane in Cairo on Sunday.

Zamalek won the Confederation Cup title, securing victory on the away goal rule after defeating the Moroccan side 1-0 in the second leg of the competition’s final, which took place in a fully crowded stadium in Cairo.

Following the game, a big number of Zamalek fans entered the pitch to celebrate the win, in clear violation of CAF regulations.

"CAF strongly condemn security breaches and spectator misbehavior during and after the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup second leg final between Zamalek SC and RS Berkane, which was played in Cairo, Egypt, on Sunday, May 19, 2024," stated the official CAF website on Monday.

"CAF have referred the matter to the relevant bodies within the organization for investigation, and disciplinary measures will be taken if deemed necessary against Zamalek SC, its players, officials, and any other parties involved in the incidents and subsequent behavior during and after the match.
