The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) announced on Thursday that a 5-6 degree drop in temperature is expected, offering relief from the sweltering heat that has gripped the country in recent days.

The improvement will be felt particularly by residents of Greater Cairo, North Coast, Nile Delta and northern Upper Egypt, the EMA noted.

Cairo and the Nile Delta will see highs of 34-39 degrees and lows of 21-22 degrees on Friday and Saturday.

South Sinai will see highs of 36-38 degrees and lows of 25-27 degrees.

The North Coast should expect highs of 27-28 degrees with lows of 19-20 degrees.

North Upper Egypt governorates, from Fayoum, Beni Suef, and Minya, will experience highs of 34-36 degrees in the morning, and lows of 23-24 degrees at night.

Sohag, Qena, Luxor, Aswan, and the Red Sea governorates in southern Upper Egypt will see highs of 39-44 degrees and lows of 27-28 degrees.

The temperature will rise again on Sunday and Monday, recording 36-38 degrees in Greater Cairo and the Nile Delta, 37-40 degrees in South Sinai and northern Upper Egypt, and 40-43 in southern Upper Egypt.
