He stated that he and his teammates gave their best efforts to please the loyal supporters.

Defending champions Ahly secured a record-extending 12th title by defeating Tunisia's Esperance 1-0 in the second leg of the CAF Champions League final at Cairo International Stadium.

Esperance midfielder Roger Aholou inadvertently scored an early own goal, deflecting a header from Ahly's defender Rami Rabia just four minutes into the match, granting the hosts a well-deserved lead.

"It was challenging to lose the CAF Champions League title at home, especially with the immense number of supporters who attended the game," said Mohamed Abdelmonem during a television program following the match.

"We maintained a high level of concentration throughout the game, with our sole focus being to win the trophy," he added.

Abdelmonem, 25 years old, has secured nine trophies with Ahly since joining the team in January 2022 from Modern Future FC, including two CAF Champions League titles, two Egyptian Premier League titles, and three Egyptian Super Cups.
