In Photos: Sisi starts visit to Beijing to meet with President Xi and attend China-Arab forum

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi arrived on Tuesday in Beijing on the start of a state visit to China to meet with President Xi Jinping and attend the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum.

President El-Sisi's visit comes upon an invitation from his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping, according to a statement from the Egyptian Presidential Spokesperson Ahmed Fahmy. 

The visit will include a summit between the two leaders to tackle ways to foster bilateral relations and unlock broader prospects for cooperation in various fields, said Fahmy.

The two leaders will also discuss regional and international issues of common interest, most notably the war in Gaza, and ways to restore regional stability and achieve the aspirations of its people for peace, security, and development, added Fahmy.

President El-Sisi will attend the inaugural session of the 10th Ministerial Meeting of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum on Thursday.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry will represent Egypt at the meeting.

Several Arab leaders, including Bahrain's King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa, Tunisia's President Kais Saied, and the UAE's President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, are set to attend the event.

The China-Arab Forum, founded in 2004, is a framework for dialogue and cooperation between Arab countries and China.


Egypt-China partnership

President ​El-Sisi's visit to China coincides with the 10th anniversary of elevating relations between Egypt and China to the level of comprehensive strategic partnership.

During the visit, President El-Sisi will also meet with senior Chinese officials and heads of major Chinese companies in various fields to explore opportunities to attract more investments and bolster the localization of manufacturing and technology transfer in Egypt.
