This came in response to a question from Nile News Channel.
Minister Shoukry said that Egypt participates in all multilateral forums concerned with water issues to affirm its viewpoint, which aligns with international law.
He explained that Egypt cooperates with regional partners and African countries that share the Nile with Egypt to establish these principles and emphasize the need to adhere to them.
Shoukry reiterated that Egypt considers water security an "existential" issue.
Regarding the outcomes of the 10th ministerial meeting of the Arab-China Cooperation Forum, the foreign minister explained that the negotiated statement affirms the alignment of views between Arab countries and China and the presence of the will to intensify cooperation in all political, economic, and cultural fields.
He added that it serves as a solid foundation for the continued development of these relationships and the creation of new opportunities for cooperation.
Earlier Thursday, President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi stated in Beijing that both Egypt and Sudan have been engaged in good faith in negotiations with Ethiopia for ten years over the longstanding dispute caused by the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD).
In December, Cairo announced the latest round of trilateral talks with Addis Ababa and Khartoum had failed to yield any results.
"Egypt will not tolerate anything that would compromise or undermine the security and stability of our countries and our peoples,” El-Sisi stressed.
Furthermore, he called for placing the issue of Arab water security as a top priority for future cooperation within the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum, as it represents a pressing issue that could spiral into an existential threat.
