Egypt is still insisting on a complete Israeli military withdrawal from Rafah crossing as a condition for its reopening, a high-level informed source told Al-Qahera News TV channel on Thursday.

The source also denied Israeli media reports that Egypt agreed to reopen the Rafah crossing after talks with Israel and the US earlier Thursday.

On 7 May, the Israeli occupation army said it took "operational control" of the Palestinian side of the Rafah border crossing between Gaza and Egypt.

Earlier in May, an informed Egyptian source told Al-Qahera News channel that Egypt rejects coordination with Israel regarding the Rafah crossing due to the unacceptable Israeli escalation in Gaza.

On Sunday, 200 aid trucks from Egypt started entering the strip through the Karm Abu Salem border crossing to the UN agencies, instead of the Rafah crossing, per a phone call agreement between President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi and US President Joe Biden on Friday.
