'Appeasing Ahly fans is almost impossible': Swiss coach Koller

Ahly coach Marcel Koller expressed his satisfaction with winning the CAF Champions League title but emphasized the difficulty of appeasing Ahly fans, who constantly demand victory without considering any conditions.

Since his arrival in September 2022, the 63-year-old coach has secured eight trophies with Ahly, including two CAF Champions League titles, three Egyptian Super Cups, two Egyptian Cups, and one Premier League title.

"In the eyes of the fans, everything is great when we succeed, but their perception changes if we suffer a loss," Koller told Swiss website Blick.

After celebrating their CAF Champions League triumph late into the night, Koller was informed the following day that winning the league was also expected.

"We had barely finished celebrating our victory when I was told we had to win the league as well," the Swiss tactician added.

Currently, Ahly sit in eighth place in the Egyptian Premier League standings with 33 points.

However, they have played only 15 games, with seven games in hand. They are currently outpaced by Pyramids FC, who lead the league with 53 points.

Koller reiterated, "Appeasing Ahly fans is almost impossible."

The Red Devils will continue their title defence in the Egyptian Premier League in mid-June.

They have a postponed game against Pharco FC before facing Ittihad of Alexandria on the 26th matchday of the domestic competition.
