The source also affirmed that Hamas will respond to the truce proposal soon.
"Hamas leaders informed us that they are seriously and positively studying the truce proposal," the source said.
According to the Egyptian official, Cairo held intensive meetings and discussions in the last few hours to resume ceasefire negotiations in the Gaza Strip.
He further added that the Egyptian intensive efforts and the Palestinian faction delegations' visits aim to restore the Palestinian reconciliation process and achieve stability in the Gaza Strip.

On 7 May, Israel launched its assault on Rafah, taking over the Palestinian side of the Rafah Border Crossing between Gaza and Egypt.
No humanitarian aid has entered through the Rafah Crossing to relieve a population facing starvation in Gaza since then.
Cairo has repeatedly expressed that it rejects the presence of Israeli forces at the Palestinian side of the Rafah crossing, insisting that when it comes to the border, it will collaborate only with Palestinians or international parties.
