Mohamed sustained the injury during Egypt's 1-1 draw with Guinea-Bissau in their fourth-round qualifier for the 2026 World Cup on Monday and underwent scans upon his return to Cairo.
EFA confirmed the diagnosis as a knee ligament injury. The statement didn't reveal the length of his absence.
Egypt sit atop Group A with 10 points after three consecutive wins before the Guinea-Bissau stalemate.
