Memo - theatre
Daily between 19 and 22 June, 9 pm 

Grand Nile Tower, Cairo

Memo is directed by Hesham Atwa and written by Diaa Mohamed.

The play revolves around Masoud -- a marginalized member of his community -- who decides to prove himself unconventionally. 

Ahmed Helmy is the eponymous hero of the play, whose cast includes stars such as Hana Al-Zahed, Ahmed Rizk, Hamdi El-Marghani, Mohamed Radwan, Rahma Ahmed, and Nour Ehab.

Abdel-Basset Hamouda - music
Thursday 20 June, 8 pm

Abdel-Basset Hamouda is one of the most popular Egyptian Shaabi singers, with several evergreen songs known to millions, including Ana Mesh Arefny (I Don't Recognise Myself), El Gaw Hady (Calm Atmosphere), Kollak Agebny (I Like Everything About You), Ediny Albak (Give Me Your Heart) among others.

Hamouda has collaborated frequently with pop artists like Donia Samr Ghanem in Bab El Hayah (Door of Life) and Nicole Saba in Mafish Mostaheel (No Impossible).

He appeared as an actor in several films and television series.


Hazem Shaheen - music
Friday 21 June, 8 pm

Hayat Theatre, 6 Al Batal Ahmed Abdel-Aziz St., off  Mohamed Sabry Abu Alam Street, downtown Cairo.

The concert commemorates the 21st anniversary of the passing of composer and singer Sheikh Imam Issa.

Hazem Shaheen will give new life to Sheikh Imam’s works. 

Shaheen, the singer and oud player, will be accompanied by musicians Ahmed Maher, Rehab Khalaf and Zain Al-Abidin Mohamed.

Grüne Fête de la Musique (Green Music Feast)
Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 June
Al Azhar Park, Cairo

Grüne Fête de la Musique is a celebration of music and the environment.

The festival includes “music performances, insightful workshops, engaging panels, and intriguing exhibitors,” the organizers reveal.

The Man Eaten by Papers - theatre
Sunday 23, and Monday 24 June, 8 pm

Falaki Theatre, Falaki St., AUC Tahrir, Cairo

Directed by Mohamed El-hadary, the performance discusses the tragedy of the citizens as they face capitalism and corporate work and the burdens they cause, resulting in debt, and illness.

This is a story of an honest worker facing a destructive monster called capitalism.

Dawar Arts Festival
23-29 June
Dawar Arts, 16 Adly St., Downtown, Cairo

The third edition of the Dawar Arts Festival is themed "Storytelling."

The festival includes music and performing arts, workshops, and exhibitions.

Kit Kat - film
Monday 24 June, 8 pm

Cultural Palace of Garden City, 4 Abdel-Rahman Fahmy, Qasr El Nil, Garden City, Cairo

Kit Kat is a 1991 film directed by Daoud Abdel-Sayed. 

The events revolve around Sheikh Hosni, played by late star Mahmoud Abdel-Aziz, a blind man living in the Al Kit Kat neighbourhood in Giza, Egypt.

Besides Abdel-Aziz, the film stars Sherif Mounir, Aida Riyad, and Nagah El-Mogui.

The film is also known for the memorable score composed by Rageh Daoud.

The film’s screening is part of the Cairo Cinema Culture Palace’s free-of-charge screening throughout June.

Clash of the Titans - film
Tuesday 25 June, 8 pm

Cultural Palace of Garden City, 4 Abdel-Rahman Fahmy St., Qasr El Nil, Garden City, Cairo

Perseus, a demigod and the son of Zeus battles the minions of Hades and the Underworld to stop them from conquering Olympus and Earth.

Clash of the Titans (USA, 2010) is directed by Louis Leterrier and stars Sam Worthington, Liam Neeson, and  Ralph Fiennes.

The film’s screening is part of the Cairo Cinema Culture Palace’s free-of-charge screening throughout June.
