Minister of Education Reda Hegazy
Hegazy's decisions were prompted by the outcry of students and parents after the physics exam on Saturday due to its high difficulty.
These decisions came after a thorough review of the report by a specialized technical committee responsible for reviewing the exam papers and answer keys for the Thanaweya Amma exams.
The minister awarded full marks for Questions 6, 33, and 40 and considered options A and D for Question 20 and options A and B for Question 14 as correct answers.
The ministry will also announce the pass rate for the exam immediately after concluding the electronic corrections, in addition to questioning the responsible committee for reviewing the exam questions.
The report said the exam complied with technical specifications and had a gradient of difficulty: 30 percent for simple cognitive levels, 40 percent for moderate cognitive levels, and 30 percent for higher cognitive levels.
In addition, 90 percent of the exam questions were based on information from previous end-of-year exams and were covered in guidance models.
Thanaweya Amma exams are critical for students and parents since they determine university prospects and professional careers.
This year, more than 745,000 students across Egypt are taking exams from 10 June to 20 July.
