Thursday marks the pinnacle of this week's heatwave in Egypt, with temperatures continuing to rise across most parts, said the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA).

However, there is good news as a slight decrease in temperature, ranging from 2 to 3 degrees, is expected in many areas, including Cairo, starting Friday.

Thursday's heat is nothing to be taken lightly with apparent midday temperatures surpassing the 40-degree Celsius mark in all parts of the country, except the North Coast.

Cairo is currently sizzling under a scorching high of around 41 degrees, while further south in the enchanting city of Aswan in Upper Egypt, apparent temperatures escalate to 44 degrees.

The feel-like temperatures are slightly higher than the actual temperatures during summer. Although both readings are taken in the shade, the high humidity exacerbates the perceived difference.

Good news!

During the upcoming weekend, Cairo will experience a drop in feel-like temperatures to 37 degrees during the day, while the North Coast will enjoy a more pleasant 33 degrees as the daily high.

South Sinai, which includes the captivating city of Sharm El-Sheikh, will remain hot until next week, with daytime temperatures hovering around 43 degrees in the shade.

By Saturday, feel-like temperatures in northern Upper Egypt, home to Minya and Beni Suef, will slightly decline from today's 42 degrees to 40 degrees.

Meanwhile, southern Upper Egypt will see an increase in feel-like temperatures during the weekend, reaching 45 degrees during the day, up from today's 44 degrees currently.

Stay cool!

Amidst these scorching conditions, remember to stay hydrated, wear light-colored and lightweight clothing, avoid direct sun exposure, and indulge in refreshing cold showers.

These simple measures will protect you from heat stress and potentially life-threatening heatstroke, which must be treated promptly.

If you begin to experience symptoms of heat stress, seek out a cooler environment, remove excess clothing, and apply a damp washcloth to your forehead and body.

If the situation becomes overwhelming, do not hesitate to seek immediate assistance.
