The 2025 AFCON will take place in Morocco from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026.

Hosts Morocco have been drawn in Group B alongside Gabon, Central Africa Republic, and Lesotho.

Title holders Cote d'Ivoire came in Group G alongside Zambia, Sierra Leone, and Chad.

Originally scheduled for June and July 2025, the AFCON was moved to avoid a clash with the inaugural Club World Cup in the United States from 15 June to 13 July next year.

The draw for the qualifying groups of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), to be held in Morocco, took place on 4 July in Johannesburg, South Africa.

A total of 48 nations, including the four winners from the preliminary round (Chad, Eswatini, Liberia, and South Sudan), have been drawn into 12 groups of four teams, each to compete for berths in the finals.

Reigning champions Cote d'Ivoire headlined the draw alongside fellow African powerhouses Algeria, Egypt, Nigeria, Senegal, and Cameroon.

The previous edition of the AFCON (2023) was hosted by Cote d'Ivoire, where the Elephants emerged victorious on home soil, claiming their third continental title.
