Um Kalthoum in Paris: Egyptian singers to perform in Paris celebrations of Egyptian-French diplomatic relations

Egyptian artists Marwa Nagy, Reham Abdel-Hakim, and Amira Selim will take the stage of Paris's Salle Gaveau in celebration of the 100th anniversary of Egyptian-French diplomatic relations.

The celebrations dubbed "Um Kalthoum in Paris" will take place on 9 July at the prestigious theatre La Salle Gaveau, praised for its pristine acoustics.

Nagy and Abdel-Hakim will lead the evening with their iconic repertoire featuring songs by the Star of the Orient. Renowned soprano Amira Selim will join in a special appearance.

Mohamed El-Mougy will conduct the orchestra accompanying the singers.

The event will include various activities attended by government officials, members of the French parliament, representatives of major companies, the business community and the media, French public figures, foreign ambassadors, and several members of the Egyptian community.

La Salle Gaveau was designed by architect Jacques Hermant in 1905. Its brilliant acoustics have soon given the hall a renown of the most prestigious music hall in Paris.

According to the hall's website, the venue has been dedicated to classical and chamber music since its inception.
