Ahly are set to host Pyramids FC at Cairo Stadium in a delayed league game on Friday, aiming to narrow the gap with the league leaders.
The defending champions who claimed their 12 nd successive win currently occupy the second place in the league table with 57 points, trailing leaders Pyramids FC by 11 points, with Pyramids FC having played four more matches.
In the match against Talae El-Geish, Ahly had a frustrating start as the military side came close to scoring twice.
However, Ahly goalkeeper Mostafa Shobeir made crucial saves to rescue the Red Devils on both occasions.
The second half witnessed Ahly coach Marcel Koller making three early substitutions, a rare move by the coach, bringing on Omar Kamal, Hussein El-Shahat, and Amr El-Soulaya at the beginning of the second half.
Just five minutes after coming on, El-Soulaya rewarded his coach's decision by opening the scoring with a well-placed shot from inside the area.
Four minutes later, striker Wessam Abou Ali added the second goal, taking his tally to eight goals in the Premier League since joining the Red Devils in January.
Ahly controlled the game against a toothless Talae El-Geish side, who suffered their tenth loss of the season.
