Earlier on Sunday, the ECKF reported that Mostafa's boat had overturned during training on the Nile near Abu El-Feda Street in Cairo's Zamalek district.

Search teams subsequently recovered the athlete's boat and paddle.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.

The ministry did not disclose Mostafa's age or club affiliation. However, it said he trained with the Electricity Club.
