Cairo giants Ahly will be aiming for what could be the win of the season on Monday as they visit league leaders Pyramids FC at the Air Defense Stadium in Cairo.

Pyramids, Ahly

The two sides faced off just ten days earlier, with the Red Devils securing a hard-fought 3-2 victory.

Ahly's win against Pyramids FC, followed with another victory against Modern Sport, has allowed them to narrow the gap with Pyramids FC to five points with three matches in hand.

Pyramids FC currently sit at the top of the table with 68 points, five points ahead of second-placed Ahly.

A win on Monday would not only reduce the gap to two points for Ahly but also bring them closer to the league summit, providing a significant step towards defending their title.

If Ahly manage to win on Monday and in their three delayed games, they will have the opportunity to leapfrog Pyramids FC by seven points with five matches remaining.

"Our win in the first game was well-deserved and important, but we need to replicate our success in the next game to climb up the table," said Ahly coach Marcel Koller.

Koller is likely to field the same line-up that defeated Pyramids FC in their previous encounter.

He will rely on in-form winger Hussein El-Shahat, who excelled in the first game and was named the player of the match.

Midfielder Emam Ashour is also among Koller's key players for this crucial clash, although he will need to deliver a better performance than in the previous game.

On the other hand, hosts Pyramids FC have no choice but to win in order to keep their title hopes alive.

Any other result would reduce their chances of winning their first-ever title.

In the previous game, Pyramids FC displayed a shaky performance, paying the price for defensive errors and goalkeeper mistakes as they surrendered a 2-1 lead to a 3-2 defeat.

Coach Krunoslav Jurcic expressed satisfaction with his team's performance but not the result after the game, promising a better outcome on Monday.

The return of suspended player Ramadan Sobhi could provide a boost for Jurcic if he decides to include him in the lineup.

While Sobhi's abilities are unquestionable, his fitness after a two-month suspension remains a question.

Ahly put an end to Pyramids FC's 14-game winning streak in their previous encounter.

Now, Ahly hold the same number of consecutive wins and will look to extend it to 15, unless it becomes Pyramids FC's turn to halt their streak.
