Nasser Medical Complex has received 27 bodies and dozens of injured people following the launch of a new Israeli assault on Khan Younis which the Palestinian Civil Defence says affects more than 400,000 people.

The complex appealed to civilians in a statement to “urgently” donate blood for the wounded and sick individuals due to the severe shortage of blood units inside the complex.

WAFA news agency said the eastern areas of Khan Younis began to witness mass displacement towards the western regions, especially Al-Mawasi.

Youssef Abu Taimah, from Al-Qarara town in Khan Younis, told AFP Monday that this evacuation order was the fourth time his family was displaced.

"We left amid ongoing air and tank shelling and drones firing shots," said the 27-year-old man who saw on the way "injured and dead people transported by tuk-tuk (three-wheeled motorcycle) and donkey cart to Nasser Hospital."

The Israeli army said Monday it is planning to begin an attack against Hamas fighters, who it claims have embedded themselves in the area.

The Palestinian health ministry said in a statement that 23 Palestinians were killed and 91 wounded in the past 24 hours in three separate Israeli attacks in Gaza, raising the death toll to at least 39,006 people since the war started.

Shooting UNRWA convoy

Philippe Lazzarini, the head of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA), said Israeli forces shot a UN convoy heading to Gaza City Sunday, despite the movement being coordinated and approved by Israeli authorities.

“One vehicle received at least five bullets while waiting just ahead of the Israeli Forces’ checkpoint south of Wadi Gaza,” he said on X. “The car was severely damaged, it left the convoy."

Lazzarini added that the teams were “travelling in clearly marked UN armoured cars and wearing UN vests,” yet still had to duck and take cover.

He called for those responsible to be held accountable.

Meanwhile, Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, said its resistance fighters targeted an Israeli army “command headquarters” in the so-called Netzarim Corridor with 114mm short-range missiles, Al Jazeera reported.

The Netzarim Corridor was set up during the war by the Israeli army to separate northern Gaza from the south.

The Israeli army confirmed that two rockets launched from the Gaza Strip struck open areas in southern Israel on Monday.

Captives’ death

The Israeli occupation army said it has confirmed the deaths of two captives held in Gaza, after obtaining new intelligence information.

Alex Dancyg, 75, and Yagev Buchshtav, 35, were believed to have been held together by Hamas in Khan Younis and died several months ago, while the army was operating there.

The army did not detail the circumstances of their deaths, citing an ongoing probe. The possibility that they were killed by Israeli fire is being investigated.
