The Bundesliga club are in the market for a centre-forward following the 18 million euro sale of free-scoring Guinea international Serhou Guirassy to rivals Borussia Dortmund, with attacking partner Dennis Undav also returning to his parent club Brighton.
After an impressive campaign that saw Stuttgart finish second ahead of Bayern Munich, the club will participate in next season's UEFA Champions League. They need to bolster their frontline to make an impact in their fifth participation in the prestigious European competition.
However, L'Equipe understands that the German side is exploring deals for Atalanta's El Bilal Touré and Rennes centre-forward Arnaud Kalimuendo.
According to the French outlet, Stuttgart added Mostafa Mohamed to their list of targets after the 26-year-old Egyptian international's prolific season with Nantes.
Mohamed initially joined the Ligue 1 side on loan from Turkish Süper Lig club Galatasaray in 2022. Subsequently, Nantes triggered the 6 million euro option to make the switch permanent a year ago, keeping the player under contract until 2027.
The Egyptian striker has impressed with the French side last season, scoring 19 goals and providing seven assists in 80 appearances across all competitions.
He also has scored 13 goals and provided five assists in 41 games for the Pharaohs since making his international debut in 2019.
