The Cairo giants, Ahly, have eclipsed the previous record of 17 consecutive victories set by their former coach Manuel Jose and are now aiming for an extended unbeaten streak.
Sitting atop the Egyptian League standings with 75 points from 29 matches, Ahly hold a five-point lead over second-placed Pyramids FC, who have played two additional games.
With just five matches left in the season, the Red Devils need a mere four points to clinch the league title.
Meanwhile, Arab Contractors find themselves struggling in the relegation zone with 25 points from 31 games this season.
Ahly are vying for their 44th Egyptian League title and are on track to secure their fourth title this season after triumphs in the Egypt Super Cup, Egypt Cup, and CAF Champions League.
In a parallel fixture, the black horse of the Egyptian League, Pyramids FC, will confront ZED FC in another postponed match from the 29th matchday, also scheduled for Sunday.
