The attack took place in several locations in Holon, on the outskirts of Israel's commercial hub of Tel Aviv, said the Magen David Adom emergency service, amid soaring regional tensions nearly 10 months into the Israeli war on Gaza.

The police said the attacker was a resident of the West Bank, suggesting that Sunday's attack was carried out by a Palestinian militant. They said the attacker was “neutralized” and that a search was underway for other suspects in Holon.

The Israeli army killed nine Palestinians in separate air strikes in the occupied West Bank on Saturday, according Palestinian press agency Wafa reported.

The Israeli occupation army has killed at least 589 Palestinians, including 142 children, in the occupied West Bank since the Gaza war began on 7 October 2023, according to the Palestinian health ministry.

Israel has conducted military raids in the occupied West Bank on a near-daily basis, during which thousands of Palestinians were kidnapped.

Over 9,520 Palestinians from the West Bank have been detained by Israel since the war on Gaza started, according to the Detainees and Ex-detainees Commission and the Palestine Prisoners Society.

On 19 July, the International Court of Justice declared Israel’s decades-long occupation of Palestinian lands as “unlawful,” saying it should be brought to an end “as rapidly as possible.”

It added that Israel must pay reparations to Palestinians for the losses they suffered as a result of its actions.
