The crash occurred when a trailer collided with a pickup truck. While clearing the road, a microbus collided with the wreckage.

First responders arrived on the scene and transferred the victims to hospitals.

The Public Prosecution has initiated an investigation into the accident.

In recent years, the government has been working to reduce road accidents by improving road safety measures as part of Egypt's efforts to expand and upgrade its road network.

Fatalities resulting from road accidents in Egypt in 2023 declined to 5,861, from 7,762 in 2022, while injuries increased to 71,016, from 55,991, in the same period, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
