Ahly midfielder El-Soulaya signs one-year contract extension

Ahly's veteran midfielder, Amr El-Soulaya, has inked a one-year contract extension, as announced by the Cairo giants on Monday.

The 34-year-old, whose current season was ended by a muscle injury, will continue with the club until the summer of 2025, as his existing contract expires at the end of this season.

El-Soulaya featured in 23 matches across all competitions this season, netting four goals.

The former Ismaily midfielder joined Ahly in January 2016 from UAE side Al-Shaab, helping the Red Devils win six league titles, four Egypt Cups, four CAF Champions League titles, four Egyptian Super Cups, and two African Super Cups.

Ahly are on the verge of clinching the domestic league title, needing just one point from their remaining four matches to secure the title.

It would elevate El-Soulaya's domestic league titles count to seven.

Ahly are set to face Smouha in Alexandria on Thursday.
