In a telephone conversation, President El-Sisi and King Abdallah agreed on the priority of reaching an immediate and sustainable ceasefire in the Gaza war to end the humanitarian disaster facing the Palestinians in the strip and defuse the current escalation in the Middle East.
The two leaders stressed that the main guarantee for restoring stability in the region lies in creating a political horizon for a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution, ensuring the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Earlier Tuesday, Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty held a phone call also with his Jordanian counterpart Ayman Safadi over the same issues concerning the situation in Gaza and the efforts to de-escalate the situation in the region.
Egypt has intensified communications with various parties in the region to defuse the current escalation the region in the aftermath of the recent Israeli assassination of senior Hezbollah military commander Fouad Shukur in south Beirut and the head of Hamas Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran.
