Ezzat Ibrahim, the official spokesperson for the National Council for Human Rights, affirmed that in exercising his constitutional powers, President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi's decision to release 600 individuals convicted in various cases adds greater credibility to the Egyptian government's directions.
“This step is in line with advancing the National Human Rights Strategy and implementing the outcomes and recommendations of the National Dialogue that were submitted to the political leadership for necessary action,” Ibrahim added.
In an exclusive statement to the Middle East News Agency, Ibrahim stated that the National Council for Human Rights values this move by the political leadership, which reflects a genuine openness towards prioritizing dialogue and consensus within Egyptian society.
He noted that it offers the released individuals a new opportunity to return to normal life and reintegrate into public life.
The official spokesperson of the National Council for Human Rights added that the recent series of releases enhances trust among all members and segments of society regarding the state's commitment to openness to dialogue and strengthening of fundamental rights for all citizens.
He also highlighted the positive developments anticipated concerning the Criminal Procedure Law based on the demands voiced during the sessions of the National Dialogue by different political forces, the National Council for Human Rights, and human rights organizations.
