The defending champions needed just a single point from the match to clinch the Egyptian title.

However, substitute midfielder Mohamed 'Afsha' Magdi's injury-time goal ensured they claimed all three points.

With three games left in the season, Ahly sit comfortably atop the league table with 81 points, holding an eight-point lead over second-placed Pyramids FC, who have played one additional game.

This victory marks the club's 44th league title in its history.

The first half saw Ahly miss several clear-cut goal-scoring opportunities, with defender Yasser Ibrahim making a crucial goal-line clearance to deny Smouha's AbuBakar Liadi a scoring chance which could punished them from the lack of cutting edge.

The second half saw few chances until Ahly coach Marcel Koller introduced Omar Kamal and Mohamed 'Afsha' Magdi to inject fresh energy and bolster the offensive performance of his team.

They rewarded their coach as Afsha connected with a precise cross from Kamal to score in the 90+5 minute, extending Ahly's winning streak to an impressive 20 games.

This title caps off a successful season for Ahly, which also saw them secure the Egyptian Super Cup, the CAF Champions League title, and a bronze medal in the FIFA Club World Cup.

Ahly's next game will be against ZED FC on Sunday at the Cairo stadium, as they look to continue their winning streak.
