vEPC is a framework for mobile networks' voice and data processing.

The collaboration between Orange Egypt and Huawei aims to offer unmatched services and solutions that align with Egypt's Vision 2030.

As per their agreement, Huawei will deploy the first bare metal container-based Single Packet Core (SPC) in Orange Egypt, promoting the seamless convergence of all mobile network generations to be the best choice for operators.

The term bare metal container refers to a single-tenant server that gives access to 100 percent of the processing power, memory, and storage of the physical hardware resources. Each server is a distinct physical piece of hardware that is functional alone. It is not a virtual server that operates in multiple shared hardware pieces.

“Our longstanding partnership with Huawei has ushered in a new era of innovation, pushing the boundaries of conventional technology in Egypt and the group. The deployment of Huawei’s vEPC solution marks a pivotal step forward, which unlocks new possibilities, enhances customer experiences, and paves the way for a transformative future in our market,” Chief Technology & Information Officer for Orange Egypt Ayman Amiri said.

Huawei’s SPC solution is important for Orange Egypt's network infrastructure because it will offer a unique network experience, including seamless handover, elastic scaling, improved operations and maintenance efficiency, and optimal resource utilization, Monther Muharram, director of Converged Core Network Engineering & Implementation at Orange Egypt, affirmed.

Muharram added that implementing this solution will lead to a significant improvement in the overall customer experience and allow Orange to fortify its leadership position in the field of virtual network advancements.

“At Huawei, we continually strive to push our boundaries in pursuit of new technological horizons that will shape the future of digital transformation. Through our longstanding collaboration with Orange Egypt, we are achieving a significant milestone in driving the country's telecommunications evolution," Mohamed Youssef, a key account executive at Huawei Egypt, stated.

"By offering the transformative Telco-Cloud platform and advanced Single Packet Core capabilities, we empower Orange Egypt to evolve its network and deliver high-performance services," Youssef added.

Orange Egypt and Huawei have enjoyed a longstanding partnership for over 20 years.

Additionally, Huawei launched the first public cloud services suite in Egypt in May during the Huawei Cloud Summit Egypt 2024 in Cairo.
